I am no one’s victim. I am where I belong. Envy is nothing more than a hostile form of self-pity. I will not succumb to it today. Instead, I will be grateful for the many gifts, talents, and opportunities I have been given. When I appreciate what I have instead of dwelling on what I lack, I feel good about my life. This allows me to be happy for another person’s abundance. ~ Family Groups, Al-Anon. Courage to Change—One Day at a Time in Al‑Anon II. Al-Anon Family Groups. Kindle Edition.
Envy is nothing more
than a hostile form of self-pity.
How true it is! And that makes me…
a victim!To be specific,
my own victim!
But not today!
Today I choose gratitude.
I will count my blessings.
name them one by one.
I will not believe I lack
but feel good about me
and be happy which somehow
makes you aware of your abundance
because I can see my own.
I will be happy so we can be happy!
than a hostile form of self-pity.
How true it is! And that makes me…
a victim!To be specific,
my own victim!
But not today!
Today I choose gratitude.
I will count my blessings.
name them one by one.
I will not believe I lack
but feel good about me
and be happy which somehow
makes you aware of your abundance
because I can see my own.
I will be happy so we can be happy!
