Self Will Is not Self-Esteem

In speaking of the angels he says,
“He makes his angels spirits,
his servants flames of fire.”
But about the Son he says,
“Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever,
a scepter of justice will be the scepter of your kingdom.
You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness;
therefore God, your God,
has set you above your companions
by anointing you with the oil of joy.” ~Hebrews 1:7-9 (NIV)\\
For the next few years fortune threw money and applause my way. I had arrived. ~ Alcoholics Anonymous, Page 3
…we…chose to believe that our human intelligence was the last word, the alpha and the omega, the beginning and end of all. Rather vain of us, wasn’t it? ~Alcoholics Anonymous, Page 49
Praise me.
Tell me I’m good,
affirm my moth-eaten self-esteem
so I can believe my lies,
endure my doubts.
Praise me more than others
for what you say of them
I hear negating me.
I must feel special
for inside me I know I’m nothing
a façade, a farce.
Tell me I’m good,
preserve the gossamer lies.

Free me from giving praise
expecting reciprocity,
from seeking center stage.
Remind me I’m your brag – or sag –
that all praise I might generate is yours.
