Fear of Complacency

There is one fear that I hope my Higher Power never relieves me of: the fear of complacency. ~ Voices of Recovery, page 347
The Big Book Alcoholics Anonymous
tells us "What we really have
is a daily reprieve contingent
on the maintenance of our
spiritual condition.
Every day is a day when we must carry
the vision of God’s will into all of our activities."
That's the danger of complacency,
a feeling of smug or uncritical satisfaction
with oneself or one's achievements.
That has no place in Recovery.
There is one fear that I hope
my Higher Power never relieves me of:
the fear of complacency.
