Out of the night that covers me
Henley had the image when he wrote
Out of the night that covers me
black as the pit from pole to pole. That's the hell of addiction,
of hopelessness, of unmanageable life.
But hope remains past hopelessness,
life managed by greater power,
addiction tamed. The moonless darkness
prepares the way for promises,
for hope, for light where darkness
echoed moans. Where in newfound brilliance
spirits harmonize.
