Peace of mind comes from not wanting to change others. ~Gerald G. Jampolsky
We are not God.
No matter how close
we may be to a person
we cannot change them.
We can change ourselves
and that change can be peace,
perfect peace in our heart
and in our mind that comes
through really understanding,
completely accepting
the reality that we cannot change
anyone but ourselves.
But can parents or spouses
really find peace that way?
Don’t we have a role, an obligation?
How can we deal with that?
Like Merlin’s advice to Arthur
in the movie Camelot…
“Mark me well, I will tell you, sir:
The way to handle a woman
Is to love her…simply love her…
Merely love her…love her…love her.”
No matter how close
