It’s not enough that we do our best; sometimes we have to do what’s required. – Winston ChurchillWho would have thought
our "best" could be a cop-out?
But it can. It's that level we claim
as doable, as ours, as a goal.
When it's not as good as good,
though, when it falls short,
it's not good enough. It's not
what's required. It's playing God.
I know what I'm capable of,
and I agree to do that much.
You, God, be with me, help me,
assist me in meeting my goal
even if it's not what you
would have me do, what you know
to be my best.
It's a failure to really pray
for knowledge of his will,
and power to carry it out.
