A Hostile Form of Self-Pity

Envy is nothing more than a hostile form of self-pity. ~ Family Groups, Al-Anon. Courage to Change—One Day at a Time in Al‑Anon II (Kindle Locations 2199-2200). Al-Anon Family Groups. Kindle Edition.
Envy: feeling of discontented
or resentful longing
aroused by someone else's
possessions, qualities, or luck.
Envy: painful or resentful awareness
of an advantage enjoyed by another
joined with a desire
to possess the same advantage.
Envy: nothing more than
a hostile form of self-pity.
Covetousness, invidiousness,
jealousy, resentment.
Nobody likes me, everybody hates me,
I'll dhow them...I'll eat over it...
even if I have to eat worms!
