We Think Not

Are these extravagant promises? We think not. They are being fulfilled among us—sometimes quickly, sometimes slowly. They will always materialize if we work for them. ~ The Big Book and A Study Guide of the 12 Steps (Kindle Locations 1509-1510). AlExtravagant: lacking restraint in spending money or using resources.
"it was rather extravagant to buy both" spendthrift, profligate,
improvident, wasteful, prodigal, lavish...valuable, precious
exceeding what is reasonable or appropriate; absurd.
"extravagant claims for its effectiveness"
So, why don't we think these promises extravagant?
Aren't they these things precious? Yes, they're precious.
But they're  also becoming commonplace in our daily lives,
a treasure we live with.    They are being fulfilled among us—
sometimes quickly, sometimes slowly. They will always materialize
if we work for them!
