I sit here crying out nameless fears,
washing away what-ifs and should-haves
and pain, both fresh and festered.
Asked if I had a busy week, I hedged,
said most the appointments had cancelled,
not I cancelled them for I plan to spend
hours and hours in hospital waiting rooms,
working to keep from thinking, from the what-ifs,
from the should-haves, from the pain, the fears,
the future.
