We've no need to lie, to pretend,
to dismiss real needs, yours
or mine. We have the right
to disagree.
But we have no right to contempt.
When you brand my position
as beneath consideration,
when I scorn your reasoning,
when we call the opposition
worthless, of no account
we're dismissing people,
not positions.
