Just Repair the Car

 If your car were broken

could you repair it?
It’s your car, isn’t it?
Shouldn’t you be responsible
for what needs to be done?
Why would you look elsewhere
for the needs of your vehicle?

If your life were broken
would you know what to do?
Would you be embarrassed
to confess you don’t?
Doesn’t it make as much sense
to look to people who know
about the aspects of your life
you don’t know how to fix?
Why is it wrong to seek out help?
There is no shame in not knowing.
Only in pretending you know
what you don’t.
