Instructions come with all things new,
or so it seems. But babies take such time,
challenge new mothers so strongly,
instructions are laid aside, catching up with sleep
seeming the greater priority. Sleep deprivation ends
but challenges abound. Mothers make do,
remember solutions passed down,
do the best they can. And while looking back
mother as well as child may have
a negative critique, for the most part
the recollections are of love
and we know mistakes are covered over
and smothered in love.
