Fear lurks, a cur disciplined,
aware who's boss, but surly.
It's hard, you know, when years
on years he ruled, controlling me.
Retraining him, drilling me —
in some way we both savor same,
regret reeducation. But plowing through,
sneering at the mangy mutt,
it's worth the pain, the strain,
to growl, "Procrastination! Heel!"
and see him cave.
