Insanity

I’ve been benefited from a dictionary definition I found that reads: “Rationalization is giving a socially acceptable reason for socially unacceptable behavior, and socially unacceptable behavior is a form of insanity.” ~ A.A. World Services Inc. Alcoholics Anonymous, 4th Edition. A.A. World Services, Inc.. Kindle Edition.
The Second Step…Came to believe
that a Power greater than ourselves
could restore us to sanity. It’s hard at the beginning
to make the leap from
the Second Step, We admitted
we were powerless over food —
that our lives had become unmanageable
all the way to the idea we might need
to be restored to sanity…i.e.,that we are/were
insane. As for me, though, I easily acknowledge
I’m analytical, logical, able to evaluate.
Does that mean I’m prone to rationalization?
Well, yes. And do I agree, “Rationalization
is giving a socially acceptable reason
for socially unacceptable behavior,
and socially unacceptable behavior
is a form of insanity.”Well, I said
I’m analytical. Am I therefore insane?
I am, at least enough so I welcome
the application of the Steps to my
unmanageable life!
Thank God I’m insane!
