The quote begins frighteningly but reverses,
becoming an assurance. If I'm living for today,
one day at a time, if I have surrendered to a Power
greater than I, if I know deep in my heart
I'm a compulsive overeater,
likely to fall into the chasm, powerless over food
and living an unmanageable life... If that ceases to be true,
I am as close to taking that first compulsive bite today
as I was on the day I came into program!
