On the Path

I may stumble and fall but I'm still on the path. ~ David S

The path of recovery,
a path we share with others,
but one we must walk ourselves
though not alone, always with friends
either with us or supporting,
a constant presence.
But we walk alone for spells,
and sometimes it's rough,
cluttered with fears and shame,
with cravings and longings,
hopes and necessity.
We stumble, sometimes fall,
but as long as we refuse to wander,
as long as we're wanting recovery,
then we're still on that path
with grit ground into knees
and trail dust fogging around us
but we're on that path,
the path to recovery.
