Who would intentionally
take the brunt of nature
exposed to cold, to rain,
to wind, to blistering sun?
Who would set themselves up
to be pelted by temptation,
by destructive emotions,
by doubt and guilt?
Like a coat, an umbrella,
heavy boots, wide hats,
a roof over your head.
Protection from life's fears
comes from wrapping in prayer,
warming around the fire of love
and basking in warmth
wrapped in the blanket of recovery.
