Change Shame to Guilt

Greg said some very kind things when I told him. …I [had] watched him overcome Groundhog Day… He said turn the shame to guilt. It’s the same emotion really. Guilt is more easily managed. We tend to have more control over guilt [than] shame. So I told him I make shite decisions with food, I feel guilty over those decisions. So theoretically I can make better decisions, right? ~ MG
Anger takes many forms, but it cannot long deceive those who will learn that love brings no guilt at all, and what brings guilt cannot be love and must be anger. ~ Schucman, Dr. Helen. A Course in Miracles. Foundation for Inner Peace. Kindle Edition.
Guilt, shame and fear are the same emotion?
A Course in Miracles teaches only two emotions exist.
If it’s love, it comes from God. All other emotions
are forms of fear. So, how do guilt and shame compare?
Both guilt and shame are negative feelings,
but while guilt is about something
that we might have done, shame is about self.
When we feel bad about self as a person,
the feeling is a negative and harmful one and called shame.
Guilt appears to push people to act i
n a more moral way to assuage their guilt, while shame appears
to simply make someone feel bad about themselves.
